Kumiko Yamaguchi is a 23 year old rookie teacher. She's very motivated, idealistic, and strong in faith. She believes in each and everyone of her students. That belief she has in her students makes them trust and respect her. She's also graddaughter to a Yakuza. So she'll be next in line to be leader of the grandfather's business, eventhough what she really wants to do is teach. She's given the name "Yankumi" by the students of class 2-4.
Shin Sawada the leader of class 2-4 is an 18 year old, who is never in class but always has straight A's and it's the best fighter in class. He goes to calss more often becuase he is curious about Yankumi. He still sleeps in the school roofs when he suppose to be in class. He cares a lot about his friends and would even get in the way of anyone who treats them bad or hurts them. Teachers fear him because of that time in middle school, where he punched out a teacher for accusing his friend of something he never did. He is the first student in calss 2-4 to find out about Yankumi being related to a Yakuza. He shows feeling towards yankumi but never really says anything about it.
Teru Kumai is another of Yankumi's students and he's Shin's best friend. He is always being accused of stealing and being picked on by other rivals schools. He's very quiet when he's in trouble. He doesn't like to worry his friends. He was given the name "Kuma" wich means Bear.
Youichi Minami is also one of the classmates and Shin's friend. He's very impulsive. He's always getting into fights, even with studets taller than him like Tsuruta Ichiro. When the Juniors are fighting for honor against the Seniors he's the one there leading.
Haruhiko Uchiyama is known as Uchi, he's the one with the funky hairstyle and another one of Shin's friends. Uchi I find is the more hilarious one of all. He also would fight for the honor of his frineds and classmates. He got lost once when class 2-4 went on a trip to Okinawa. he got separated from his friends and was lost for hours but Yankumi gave him something he will never forget.
Takeshi Noda is also Shin's friend. He's always wearing his blue cap. He was one of the classmates that got stuck in afterschool math club. He was also the one that came up with the name "Yankumi".
Ryuichiro Kuroda is Yamaguchi's grandfather. He's the kumicho of the Oedo Clan. He may be a Yakuza but he's a nice person and loves his granddaughter a lot. He supports her dreams of being a teacher and doesn't want her to worry much about the business. When he get's sick, Yamaguchi becomes the acting kumicho for the Oedo Clan.
Kyotaro Oshima is a member of the Oedo Clan. I'd say he's the strongest. He taught Yamaguchi how to fight and be strong when she was bullied in school. He's been helping take care of her since she was 7.
Kouzou Wakamatsu is the assistant of the Oedo Clan. He follows the orders of the Kumicho and Kyo.
Minoru Tatsukawa is one of Kumiko's followers. He is a member of the Oedo Clan and he cares a lot about Kumiko. Thats why he doesn't think twice in risking his life for her. He was taken in when no one wanted him around. Kumiko cared for him and made him finish school, but they didn't want him around til graduation.
Tetsu Asakura is also a member of the Oedo Clan and a follower of Kumiko. he would also protect and risk his life for her. He along with Minoru was taken in by Kumiko. She took care of them as they were her own little brothers.
Fuji is Kumiko's dog. He's a dog thats always talkin in his head. He's always walking with Kumiko protecting her from gangs in the streets. You can see him sometimes with a pipe in his mouth.
Tomoyo Shinohara is a cute lawyer that Yamaguchi has a crush on. She gets all red and daydreamy when he's around. He works for the Oedo Clan and worries a lot about Yamaguchi and her grandpa.
Shizuka Fujiyama is the english and music teacher of Shirokin Gauken. She started working the same day Yamaguchi did. She's a sexy teacher and has most the boys in school drooling over her. In the past one of her students try comit suicide and the parents blamed her. That made her quit for a bit but then she realized she loved teaching. In Shirokin she started a Choir Club but all she wanted was cute boys in it, but she ended up accepting the ugly ones too.
Goro Sawatari is the school's Vice Principal. He along with the Principals older brother wants to see Shirokin Gauken closed down. So the Vice Principal will do anything for that to happen. He's always calling the boys of 2-4 delinquents and doesnt want to believe in them. He also tries to get Yankumi fired when he finds out she's the granddaughter of a Yakuza.
Gonzou Shirakawa is the Principal of Shirokin Gauken. He's half the size of Yankumi and bald. He's always doing his silly things. He loves Shirokin and cares about each student that goes there.
Kudoh a former Senior at Shirokin Gauken. He was expelled from school but still goes to pick on the other kids especially the Juniors. Yamaguchi beats him up when he's beating Kumai. He joins the Nekomata Group and tries framing the Oedo Clan of going around starting trouble with other clans. He then kidnaps Yankumi but she's rescued by Shin and the rest of calss 2-4.
Ichiro Tsuruta is a senior that got suspended for being a bully. He comes back to Shirokin because the Vice Principal let him. He bumps into Minami wich starts a fight between them. He said he only fights and bullies for the respect. He loves to cook, his speacialty it's Yakisoba wich he does at the Festival.
Ichikawa is a student who's always getting picked on and wants to comit suicide. Fujiyama talks him out of it and he then joins her Choir Club.
